Summary

Imagine that you and your family are sitting at home in the cold, without electricity, water and internet for several days, cringing at the air alarms. This is the situation for millions of Ukrainians this winter. Their suffering only intensifies... We have already supported thousands of migrants and poor families affected by the war in Odessa city with housing, food and other assistance. Now it is critical to provide these people with the means to survive the blackouts. Help us do it today!

Challenge

The russian army regularly and purposefully destroys vital infrastructure in cities, continuing the terror against Ukrainians. Half of the energy system of Ukraine has already been put out of action. It has suffered more than others from the bombings in Odesa region. Because of this, heating, internet and water supply in all the houses stopped to work. People can`t cook food for themselves and their children, study, work. They freeze and get sick, as the air temperature has dropped below zero.

Solution

There are some tools that help to survive the blackout. Such as flashlights, power banks, batteries, portable gas stoves, thermoses, heating pads, candles, warm blankets, clothing, water containers. We are going to promptly purchase and distribute them to the poorest people in Odessa at the humanitarian center of our Foundation. We will also equip an autonomous Emergency Point where people can warm-up themselves, eat hot meals, charge their phones, take water and get other help during a blackout

Long-Term Impact

No one knows how long the war and bombing will continue. Ukrainians are very strong and brave people but the energy system in country is on the brink of collapse, making cities uninhabitable. After last drone attack on Dec,10, the authorities said it would take 2-3 months to restore all the power grid objects in Odessa region. Given the winter frosts that are typical for Ukraine, we must take emergency measures of protection and provide people with simple devices and open warm-up points today.
