Book Donation Project - Koralavalla Area

By Chalana Fernando | Project Leader

1. Project Title

Book Donation Program for Students in Koralawella Area

2. Project Background

Education is one of the most important foundations for a child’s future. However, many students in underserved communities face difficulties in obtaining essential school supplies due to financial challenges. Recognizing this need, we organized a book donation project to support school children in the Koralawella area.

The primary goal of this initiative was to reduce the financial burden on families and encourage students to continue their education with confidence by providing them with necessary school books and learning materials.

3. Project Objectives

  • To support underprivileged students with essential school books.

  • To encourage education and improve learning opportunities.

  • To reduce the financial burden on parents in the community.

  • To promote community involvement and social responsibility.

4. Beneficiaries

A total of 60 students from the Koralawella area benefited from this project. The selected students were from families facing economic difficulties and were identified with the support of local community representatives.

5. Funding and Support

This project was successfully implemented through the generous contributions of donors.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to:

  • The Sri Lankan Community for their kind financial support and encouragement.

  • GlobalGiving for being a recurring donor and continuously supporting our initiatives.

Their generosity made it possible for us to reach these students and make a meaningful impact on their education.

6. Project Implementation

The project activities included:

  1. Identifying deserving students in the Koralawella area.

  2. Collecting funds from donors and well-wishers.

  3. Purchasing required school books and materials.

  4. Organizing the distribution program.

  5. Handing over books to 60 students.

The distribution was conducted successfully with the participation of volunteers and community members.

7. Outcomes and Impact

The project created a positive impact on both students and their families:

  • Students received essential learning materials on time.

  • Parents experienced financial relief.

  • Students were motivated to continue their studies.

  • Community engagement and trust were strengthened.

8. Challenges

Minor logistical challenges were faced during coordination and distribution, but they were managed successfully with volunteer support.

9. Conclusion

The Book Donation Project in the Koralawella area was successfully completed, benefiting 60 students in need. The initiative demonstrated the power of community support and donor generosity in improving educational opportunities for children.

We look forward to continuing similar projects in the future to support more students across different communities.

10. Acknowledgment

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to:

  • The Sri Lankan Community

  • GlobalGiving (Recurring Donor)

  • All volunteers and supporters

Your kindness and generosity made this project possible.
