With your donation, you are supporting the stories of many women to be read, heard, and inspire others to break the cycle of violence and begin their healing journey.
In Ecuador, 6 out of 10 women have experienced some type of violence, it is estimated that 1 in 4 girls will be sexually abused before they reach 18 years of age and that every 3 days a woman dies at the hands of her partner or ex-partner. The state support that the survivors have and the efforts to avoid this problem are insufficient. With the support of the Foundation, 20 surviving women receive legal, psychosocial support and will receive training to support 240 women who are still victims
This project has been written by and with women survivors of violence. With the book "Escrito en el cuerpo", these women had the opportunity to use writing as a healing process and as a way to invite other women in similar situations to end the cycle of violence by speaking up and sharing their stories of how they were able to get out of that dark place. This book tries to shed the ties that social mandates produce, the same ones that limit our voices and creativity.
The long term impact that "Escrito en el cuerpo" is looking for is to show other woman that violence can not be allowed by any circunstance and with this book we hope that it has the "me too" effect, so by replicating this project, the idea is that the book can be shared with other woman so that they can see that there is a way out and that they can speak up and end violence. We are looking forward to do another book with more stories and to make this a long term project.
