Summary

Due to the neglect and marginalization of the community people, the local and central government administration as well, the visually impaired children and youths in the various primary schools for the blind and visually impaired mainstream secondary schools, colleges and universities are not having the necessary study materials in Braille. This is as a result of the absence of a computerized Braille press for blind and visually impaired children to braille their textbooks in accessible format

Challenge

As a result, the number of blind boys, girls and youths coming forward to acquire their school and college education is increasing every year. However, it is regrettable that, hundreds of blind and visually impaired students are neglected in the field of education due to lack of braille books in accessible format and other essential materials for blind learner's that can make them pair up with their sighted and abled bodied counterparts.

Solution

This project will enable hundreds of blind and visually impaired school children, college/university students to get their textbooks, journals, magazines and other essential materials in Braille form. Also , it will reduce the high rate of school drop -out among the blind and visually impaired children by providing them an inclusive and accessible format braille textbooks for easy reading.

Long-Term Impact

The said project will be able to fulfill the academic aspirations of hundreds of visually impaired pupils/students by availing them enough opportunity to read braille text books of various disciplines and other important information of learning.
