True change in school safety requires partnership beyond the classroom. Many parents and community members in Makurdi are unaware of the extent of bullying and GBV, or they may accept it as a cultural norm. According to a Nigerian study, parental engagement is a key predictor of successful child protection outcomes in schools.
This project brings parents, traditional leaders, and local authorities to the table. Through community forums, sensitization campaigns, and collaborative policy development, we’re building bridges of understanding and accountability. Parents are educated on recognizing signs of trauma and the importance of supporting their children’s mental health.
Your support funds these outreach efforts—ensuring the whole community is invested in protecting its children. Together, we can establish a culture of vigilance, support, and zero tolerance for violence in and around schools.
With your partnership, Makurdi’s children will know they are valued and protected not just by their schools, but by the entire community.
