Summary

Orphans Africa's project is to bring computers, accessories, printers and a power grid to the students at Mwaji Secondary School in rural Western Tanzania. These students started their education in a bamboo and thatch hut and would be thrilled to have computers in their new school. They know learning with modern technology would be a tremendous advantage to furthering their education. Be a computer hero and help the students raise themselves out of poverty!

Challenge

The Mwaji Secondary School (high school) students are in dire need of computers, accessories and a power source to run the hoped-for computers! This school, re-built by Orphans Africa (from a bamboo and thatch hut) is looking to the generous donors of GlobalGiving to help provide the students with computers and accessories needed to operate technology equipment.

Solution

This project would bring much coveted computer technology to the students at Mwaji Secondary School. Additionally with enough funds, Orphans Africa would be able to provide consistent power (via a solar grid) allowing the students to use the machines and learning tools regularly. Currently power is not consistent, so a solar power grid would provide a valuable resource and allow the Orphans Africa to further provide technology skills to these promising young people.

Long-Term Impact

The long term impact would be immense! Providing these students with computer skills, and learning tools, would give them a much needed advantage in their goal of attending university and achieving higher educational success. Having computer technology now would allow continued learning for students today and into the future, as they move through the school system. It would be a long term benefit for the students and the school!
