MasPorTIC was born to boost digital transformation across rural areas in Colombia. We will benefit 550 farmers in Colombia with access to specialized knowledge, technological resources, technical training, and information to improve their quality of life and productivity in agriculture. This is possible through a web platform that will be used by 137 young rural leaders, who will benefit from a rural Bootcamp called "1,2,3xTIC" to empower and improve their technology and entrepreneurial skills.
The digital transformation in agriculture is now. Rural life doesn't offer feasible opportunities for youth leaving the countryside. For years, they have not had access to technological resources to be more efficient. In addition, 83% of farmers in Colombia don't receive technical assistance. Traditional ways of reaching them are too expensive, and the use of technology is not yet possible due to the digital divide. Then, large agricultural companies have a greater advantage over small farmers
To tackle the digital division, we will provide a hybrid solution that combines the rural youth Bootcamp "1,2,3xTIC" and the platform to empower 137 rural young leaders. Young people need spaces for participation where they can connect and acquire skills, knowledge, and networking, and present innovative solutions that impact their territories and environment. The rural youth will then replicate this knowledge in their respective regions, helping 550 small farmers access our platform.
This project is replicable across all Colombian and Latinoamerican regions so more farmers can benefit. Our goal is to increase productivity in agriculture and multiply the opportunities in the Colombian and Latin American countryside. The democratization of knowledge, retention of young talent across rural areas, and the opportunity to receive income from digital literacy services and content creation will result in their respective regions becoming self-sustainable.
