Dear Donor
Elderly people are among the most vulnerable groups living in displacement camps across northern Syria. As they age, many face increasing difficulties in meeting their basic needs, especially after years of conflict that forced them to leave their homes, belongings, and communities behind. Today, thousands of elderly men and women live in tents and temporary shelters that lack even the most basic conditions for a dignified life.
Many older adults suffer from chronic illnesses that require ongoing medical care and regular medication. However, limited access to healthcare services and the high cost of treatment often make it difficult for them to receive the support they need. Their challenges become even greater during harsh weather conditions, particularly in winter, when cold temperatures and inadequate shelter significantly affect their health and well-being.
As part of our humanitarian response, we work to support elderly people living in displacement camps by providing food assistance, relief packages, and essential household items that help meet their daily needs. Whenever resources allow, we also provide cash assistance, enabling them to purchase necessities according to their individual priorities and circumstances. In addition, we strive to distribute seasonal aid, including winterization and heating support, to help them cope with difficult living conditions.
Beyond addressing material needs, these interventions provide elderly beneficiaries with a sense of care, dignity, and human connection. For many who have experienced years of displacement, loss, and uncertainty, knowing that they have not been forgotten brings comfort and hope.
Supporting elderly people in northern Syria remains a critical humanitarian priority. Through our ongoing efforts, we are committed to reaching those most in need and providing assistance that helps preserve their dignity, improve their quality of life, and offer greater security and stability during challenging times.
Thank you to all GlobalGiving donors whose generosity makes this vital support possible. Your contributions help ensure that vulnerable elderly people receive the care and assistance they deserve.
