Build a Brighter Future for 80 Kids in Guatemala

We would like to start with a word of (huge) thanks! Last week 373 of you came together and donated a whopping $13,500 which in-turn earned us over $5,500 in matching funds and $700 in bonuses from GlobalGiving.

In local news, the airport in Guatemala re-opened with health measures and local buses are running again so slowly but surely we are getting back to life. The President tested positive, yet despite his age and few underlying issues he is doing just fine.

And, despite all schools in Guatemala being closed we remain committed our children and their education.

With the food basket deliveries we also send them pages of homework and reading material to stimulate their growth and expand their knowledge.

Our school is home base for coordination, storage and delivery of both food and knowledge.

We hope this newsletter finds you well and safe.

The Big Good News :-) is that next week from Monday May 18th - Friday 22nd we are having a 100% Match on all donations! So $1 becomes $2, $50 becomes $100, with no limit!!

This good-news-good-fortune is all being made possible by a group of our most ardent supporters who have pooled together and generated a $7,500 Match Pot for us. Our job next week will be get this matched by 100%, and as we are expecting, by even more than that.

Our on-going work to ensure that our students and their families have food during this time continues. Additionally, we are now distributing educational materials for our students that will be included with the food baskets. We have not yet reached peak here in Guatemala and it may be some time before our school can reopen so these educational materials are our attempt to keep our kids’ minds engaged as we await the peak and can finally get back to our normal class schedule at the school.
