Every child deserves the chance to read, learn, and dream-but in Suleja, thousands grow up with almost no books. This project will build a community library stocked with 5,000 books and a quiet study space for children and adults alike. With a welcoming environment and structured reading programs, it will spark a love of learning, strengthen literacy, and give every learner the tools to succeed.
Imagine going through school without ever opening a book at home. That is the reality for most children in Suleja. Schools have no libraries, and homes rarely have reading materials, leaving children with limited opportunities to practice literacy, develop critical thinking, or continue learning outside the classroom. Without access to books, learning stalls, and academic potential is lost-threatening future opportunities for entire communities.
A single library can transform a community. We will construct a simple, functional library with tables, chairs, and shelves, and stock it with 5,000 carefully selected books in English and local languages. Two trained community librarian will run daily operations and host weekly reading hours, storytelling sessions, and homework help clubs. By providing access, guidance, and programming, the library ensures children and adults alike can read, learn, and thrive.
This library will serve an estimated 2,000 children every year, plus youth and adults, creating a vibrant hub for learning and community engagement. Access to books and structured reading activities will improve literacy, boost academic performance, and foster lifelong learning habits. Over time, it will nurture confident, skilled learners and strengthen educational outcomes across generations, making knowledge accessible to everyone in Suleja.
