Dear Family/Donors,

We will share with you in this report the journey of one of our grantees – Fabiano. He is finishing his course and shares with you his discoveries and wishes.

Fabiano is developing the following work: FORMATION AND MANAGEMENT OF COLLABORATIVE NETWORKS APPLIED TO SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS.

Sounds interesting, but what will it be used for?

- His work studies collaborative management methodologies and proposes a new management method for organizations/companies that wish to manage projects in a more horizontal and cooperative way. After completing his course, Fabiano will structure training and consultancy to implement the ABELHA Method in companies and organizations that wish to conduct projects in a more cooperative way and with a greater sense of belonging and purpose for all parties involved. The work details collaboration as an essential and natural aspect at all levels of life, addressing types of collaboration in nature, such as mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism. The distinction between simple and complex collaboration is investigated in Fabiano´s research, highlighting its implications in various contexts, including environmental and organizational management.

In other words, Fabiano will help companies and organizations find purpose and create proximity between their stakeholders. Without a doubt, it has great potential to change the way businesses are managed.

And how does Fabiano see his educational journey to develop that?

“The process of creating the work has been quite challenging, but also very enjoyable as it is a topic of great personal interest. In my process, I alternate between moments of study and argumentative improvement and moments of creativity and cognitive development with the creation of the new method I am developing.”

Field classes, what could be better?

Report 17

Dear Family/Donors,

In this report we will get back to our Master Grantees and their adventures in the field during the Master Class on Conservation Biology.

Just to remind you all:

Master grantees of 2022

- Harrison environmental manager)

- Lillian (environmental manager)

Our master students are right now at Pontal do Paranapanema Region, where we can find the biggest remnant of Inland Atlantic Forest in southeast Brazil. – The Morro do Diabo State Park. In this place, IPÊ has conducted more than 30 years of research on socioenvironmental themes.

Our Master Program has a field class named Conservation Biology, coordinated by our founder Dr. Claudio Padua. In this class, the students can visit all the IPÊ´s projects in the region and learn from this experience.

They see consolidated forest corridors, they see community nurseries that will be used to restoration, they see endangered species in the field, they experience the impacts on the local people and landscape.

After this field class our students understand much better how a long-term socioenvironmental project can change scenarios and realities. This is the goal of our school - ESCAS – to join people and to catalyze this change.

Lilian and Harrison are having a great time of experiential learning and after that, they will be more conscious about their own change power.

Let’s travel a little inside the people and habitats of this rich region in Brazil!

Achievement of a grantee, achievement of all of us

Dear Family/Donors,

We hope this finds you well!

We have exciting news!!

In the last report we shared with you wishes, expectations and achievements of our new Master and MBA grantees.

Today, we will focus on our MBA grantee Fernanda , that develops her work in the Navigating Entrepreneurial Education in the Amazon, a project that also received an emergency grant from GlobalGiving.

On April 4, 2023, IPÊ was awarded by WTM Latin America, in São Paulo-SP, with the SILVER WINNER Award

in the Best Significant Connections category,

with the Project Navigating Entrepreneurial Education in the Amazon, which takes place on the Lower Rio Negro Site.

This award has confirmed the success of the project that involved amazon community entrepreneurs from the sustainable development reserve Puranga Conquista and carried out several training courses in business management and marketing, as well as mentoring by volunteer specialists to help community members to write projects to raise funds to their business. The projects that stood out received a seed investment to develop the enterprises.

We are so proud of Fernanda and the whole team!! See what she tells about the prize: “This project was a great learning experience for everyone, as a new methodology was developed, where everyone involved learned during the process and, fortunately, it worked to the point that we won a prize for the work. We were very happy and excited to go down this path. The project was renewed, and we will carry out the second year of activities with entrepreneurs supported by the seed investment, accompanying their businesses, monitoring, and recording production, sales, and investments information, so we can formalize themso we can formalize them”.

Fernanda is also defining her MBA completion work and see what she thinks: “My work will focus on the analysis of one of the impact businesses supported by the project. In this way, I will be able to help even more, diving deeply into the results and helping the community entrepreneur to continue his journey”.

An achievement of one of our grantees, is an achievement of all of us! Thank you, Fernanda, for making a difference in you region. Thank you, supporters, for making a difference outside your regions!
