Currently, a nursery school in St. Lucia educates 30 students between the age of 1-6, in one tiny wooden classroom. The classroom has too many to count structural problems and limited shelter from rain and cold due to the large gaps. Additionally, because of the poor conditions, the government does not financially support the school, teachers or staff. Help us build a nursery school with three classrooms to educate an additional 60 students and provide the conducive learning space they deserve.
From structural problems, lack of space, lack of funds to properly feed the students and no support from the government, a St. Lucia creche needs our help. Currently, there is limited shelter from the rain and cold season due to large gaps within the wood paneling and only one classroom usable, resulting in no separation between babies and toddlers. The school does not receive government support, meaning no funds for their feeding program, resulting in the teacher to pay out of pocket.
Building a nursery school will expand the school to three classrooms and provide proper toilets for the kids. This classroom will increase educational opportunities in a safe, conducive learning environment and will allow the school to qualify for government funding. In return, the government will then provide funds to feed all the students daily and not taking away any funds from the teachers personal pocket. Currently the number of students attending school will increase from 30 to over 90.
Early childhood education is the most crucial period for a student's development. Building this creche will provide over 90 students a year a strong foundation for their future education. Additionally, this creche will provide educational opportunities for generations ahead. Finally, this creche build will support the teachers after government approved and provide additional teacher employment opportunities from the additional classrooms.
