A Whole Village Provided with clean water

By Development Alert | Project Leader

Dear Donor,

Thanks to your generous support, the community of Pabendo has another reason to celebrate. We have supported the repair of a spoiled community borehole, restoring access to clean water for close to 1,000 people who can now benefit from a functional community water source.

Before the repair, the broken borehole left community members facing the challenge of accessing water for their daily needs. For rural families, a non-functional borehole can mean walking longer distances to find alternative sources, spending valuable time collecting water, and sometimes relying on unsafe water that puts their health at risk. These challenges can be especially difficult for children, women, older people, and households with limited resources.

Today, the restored borehole offers renewed hope. Close to 1,000 people in Pabendo can once again access their community water source for essential household needs. Reliable access to clean water supports better hygiene and sanitation, helps families reduce their dependence on potentially unsafe water sources, and gives community members more time for education, caregiving, farming, and other productive activities.

This intervention also demonstrates the importance of repairing existing water infrastructure. When a borehole breaks down, the consequences can affect an entire community. Restoring it is a practical way to bring an essential service back to life and improve the wellbeing of the people who depend on it.

Although this repair is an important milestone, continued maintenance and responsible community management will be essential to keeping the borehole functional for years to come.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing donors for making this intervention possible. Your generosity is helping communities overcome water insecurity and ensuring that access to this essential resource is restored where it is needed most.

Nearly 1,000 people in Pabendo now have renewed access to clean water. Together, we are restoring more than a borehole—we are restoring dignity, protecting health, and creating opportunities for a healthier future.

Thank you for standing with Development Alert in our commitment to bringing clean water closer to every community.
