The playground continues to be a heavily used and highly valued project by the teachers and children at the Agwata school. The children, especially the younger ones, enjoy playing on all the equipment. But in addition, it gives them the space to play with other equipment in a safe and secure area. They can do parachute play with their new parachute and also use smaller soft soccer balls and playground balls in the space too. Now that the fence is installed, the teachers even use the back side of the fence which faces their housing area, as their official "clothesline" to dry their clothes.
The playground has truly exceeded all expectations as to its usefulness and value to the school. However, a few minor but important tasks do remain to be completed if the remaining additional funds can be raised. We need to have the ground graded so that it is level. Right now, there are big indentations in the area where dirt was taken out as the playground was being built. This means it is somewhat dangerous if the children are running on the playground. In addition, grass seed needs to be planted so that during wet season weeds and tall native grasses do not grow high and uncontrolled. We also need to purchase some playground cleaning supplies and a few specific tools to keep the playground properly cleaned and repaired in accordance with the specifications of the NGO who constructed the playground.
We thank all of you for your continued support of this fantastic project!
