Community actions are the only solution now

By Kulihoshi M | Provincial Coordinator of North Kivu

In this dramatic situation only individual actions may rescue the affected people, from sharing a shelter, getting a clothe, sharing the availlable food, getting traditional medecine, helping each other to cop up with the situation, sharing information, fostering pacific cohabitation and solidarity among people in the villages, yet the community is the best way and no one can imagine the great work of our community members, especially those who are not accessible by the Cameras.

Two weeks ago from now, the survivors of the flooding in Kalehe were chased away from their internally displaced camps and all their shelters destroyed by the M23 backed by Rwanda. They people all scattered each one in his or her direction, now M23 has controlled the whole area and these victims are living a dire life.

All humanitarian actors fled in order to save their lives and up to now the United Nations have not yet managed to negotiate their return, people are lacking everything especially the basics.

At this stage only community initiatives have survived and have demonstrated their capacity to transform the lives of people who are affected, and this is what we advocated for, the capacity of the communities to respond.

Please support now our community initiatives and help those who are affected by this war. We still believe that is such a situation the best solution is to empower people in their communities especially the fight against poverty and destitution at the community level.
