A progress has been made for the war victims in Kikongo-Katanika II in Kalemie
Now the war victims in Kikongo Camp have temporal shelters through the help from UNHCR, and this was because of our strongly advocacy to alert about their unberable conditions. For a time now we are certain that they will survive this raining season and they will not be much affected, however there is still a lot work to be done.
You can see on the pictures the new face of Kikongo Camp, the grass houses are now disappearing one by one, and it is much possible to stay in this camp.
However as in Kikongo there are some progress, in Gari Makala not much have done and we are so worried about their situations when it rains. Those in Gari Makala do not have these temporal shelters however they are now getting at least 13$ per month as food ration. We may have questions about the amount but so far is the starting.
Access to shelter is still a problem especially a shelter which can help a person to focus now on rebuilding his/her life and this is a big challenge. Despite the existence of land, we are not seeing relief aid which can offer people better houses.
