Dear Donors,
Thank you for supporting the Build a Training School for Rural Birth Attendants project. We are grateful for your generosity and for recognizing the urgent need to improve maternal healthcare services in underserved rural communities.
Across many rural areas, childbirth continues to take place far from health facilities and skilled medical personnel. Traditional Birth Attendants often serve as the first and only source of support for pregnant women. While many have years of practical experience, few have access to formal training, modern maternal health knowledge, or opportunities to improve their skills. This gap contributes to preventable complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
We sincerely appreciate the donations received so far. However, the amount available is not yet enough to begin construction of the training centre. Additional support is needed before land preparation, building works, training equipment procurement, and facility development can commence.
The proposed training school in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State will provide a dedicated space where rural birth attendants can receive practical instruction from qualified nurses and midwives. The centre is planned to include training classrooms, demonstration areas, and learning resources that will help attendants improve their skills and strengthen connections with nearby health facilities.
The goal is not only to provide training but also to establish a lasting institution that can serve rural communities for many years. Once operational, the centre is expected to train and mentor new groups of birth attendants annually, helping improve the quality of maternal care available to women living in remote locations.
We remain committed to this vision and continue working toward the resources needed to make it a reality. As progress is made, we look forward to sharing updates on site development, construction activities, and future training plans.
Thank you for helping create opportunities that can improve maternal and newborn health in communities where skilled care remains difficult to access.
Warm regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
