Summary

Educate 5240 children by building and equipping four classrooms at our school in Honduras. More than 400 children are currently enrolled, and we need more space to meet the needs of the community. This school offers a bilingual, private, Christian education to children, and provides full and partial scholarships to children facing or at-risk of poverty.

Challenge

Children facing poverty often have difficulty attending school. Without access to education or the ability to gain marketable skills, the cycle of poverty can continue for generations. The issue is widespread: 23.3% of global youth were not in employment, education or training in 2020 (International Labor Organization). A lack of marketable skills in youth can affect entire economies for years to come.

Solution

The school currently provides education access to more than 400 students, but the need in local communities surpasses our building capacity. This means we have a timely need for more space to accommodate additional students! These rooms will be outfitted for their specific uses as English, Music, Art, and Cooking classrooms, class offerings that will extend valuable skills to students - skills that could be valuable in entering the job market as adults.

Long-Term Impact

We expect to impact over 5000 children and youth within the next five years with these classrooms. That's 5000 children, some of whom face poverty and other barriers to education and employment access, who will now have marketable skills to enter the job market. Additionally, these classroom spaces can be used after school hours to hold community workshops in these same four disciplines, as a service to locals in the community - many of whom may currently lack marketable skills.
