Build Bright future for 750 marginalized Girls

There are many young women and girls who want to do their own business or work somewhere to support their family economically and become self-reliant but still their dreams of working or doing business do not convert into reality. In order to convert the dreams of these girls and women into reality, RSKS India organizes vocational skill education schools at different villages or remote locations so that the rural women and girls could also have the chance to become self-reliant and their parents or guardians would also allow them to go to a nearby place to learn some new skills. RSKS India teaches different types of trades like beautician, garments making, handicraft making, bag making etc under the non-farming vocation education school. These trainings are usually of 3-5 months and only Sunday is holiday at the school.

In this context, RSKS India organized a beauty parlour vocational education school at a urban area where more than 25 young women and girls were selected for the 3 months rigorous training for 5 hours daily. During the first month of the training many activities have been organized at the vocational education school. Activities & trainings like life skills, sports, Parents teachers meeting etc were done so that a better relation could be built between the master trainer, RSKS Team, trainees and their parents. All of these girls and young women participated in all the activities with full enthusiasm. The master trainer is teaching beautician tips & tricks in 1.5 hours theoretical and 3.5 hours practical sessions daily so that the young women and girls getting the training would understand about the beauty parlour in a better way.

Through organizing these activities at the beauty parlour vocational education school, the confidence of the young women and girls increased surely as now they are able to speak on their thoughts. Their way of perception towards anything have been changed due to the life skills taught to them by the RSKS Team members. The relationship of RSKS team and the parents of the trainees is now strong through the parents teachers meeting and it is very important as it would help in while consultation with them. These young women and girls would soon be getting their skill certificates after the completion of their course and then they would be able to start working or doing their own source of employment. The trainees and their guardians always thank RSKS India team for organizing such a wonderful training to make them self reliant.

Some women and girls do not get the opportunity to work outside or get higher education or learn some skills. This happens mainly due to their family not allowing them to go outside to work or go far away to learn anything because of their conservative thinking. While watching all these problems, RSKS India is providing two types of training to the rural women and girls for their empowerment, these two types are farming and non farming. In the non-farming, RSKS India is providing many skill training to the rural women and girls in the trade of beautician, garment making, handicraft making, bag making etc. These trainings are taught for five hours daily to these women and girls and are taught in both the ways, i.e. theoretically as well as practically for their better understanding.

In this context, One of the trainings which RSKS India organized for 5 months at small town was the Advanced Garment Making vocational education school. This training was run through the valuable support of donors. In this training, 30 girls were selected and they were taught about the advanced garment making skills for 5 months regularly. In these 5 months, RSKS India did many thing in order to build the confidence and courage in the girls. Some of these things were the Entrepreneurship development program, marketing training, life skills training, different types of sports, exhibition of their handmade garments etc. At the end of the program a closure ceremony was also organized in which these 30 girls who learned the training for 5 months were provided skill certificates by RSKS India for their better future. RSKS India also had made skill net groups of these girls so that they would be in touch and also to support them in their pursuit of becoming self reliant.

Many of these girls started earning some money during the training as these girls were doing stitching while at home. These girls practiced whatever they learned and the marketing skills which they learned during their skill training made them know how to communicate their business to others. In this way, some of these girls received orders of garments during the training and some of them started their self employement after the training. These girls are able to work from their home and they do not have to go anywhere so now earning while staying at home is possible for them. These girls have got confidence and courage as they were able to speak to their care takers about their will to start the garment making self employment and were able to convince them and work with dedication to show that their decision was right. These girls thank donors and RSKS India from bottom of their heart for making them empowered.
