Project Progress & Achievements

By Dr. Frank Schmielewski | Patron of the IRDNC Kunene Elephant Walk

We are happy to share encouraging progress on the Kunene Elephant Education Center.

A major funding application has now been submitted to the Federal Republic of Germany, bringing us an important step closer to making the Center a reality. At the same time, all legal matters concerning the project site have been successfully clarified with the Conservancy.

Construction of the storage facility is expected to begin shortly, and the tender process for the main building work has already been initiated. If everything proceeds as planned, construction of the Education Center will begin in early 2027.

The Center will become a place where Elephant Rangers, local communities, and young people can learn, exchange knowledge, and develop practical solutions for living alongside the free-roaming desert elephants of the Kunene Region.

Every donation helps us move closer to this goal. Thank you for being part of this journey and for supporting a future in which both people and elephants can thrive.
