Challenge

The existing primary school building is falling apart – there are holes in the ceiling where rain leaks in so the classrooms have no furniture or resources. There are not enough classrooms for all the students- sometimes there are more than a hundred students in one room. Even with money to pay for schooling, the school is not capable of facilitating the educational needs of the students. Without the opportunities for a proper education, these children will never break the cycle of poverty.

Solution

The new classrooms and repairs will provide a secure space for the children to learn. The old building is dilapidated, and new facilities will allow for more effective teaching. This project will also allow for more students to enroll in the school.

Long-Term Impact

The new classrooms and repairs will help students obtain an effective primary school education, qualify for secondary school, and graduate with a diploma that will give them a chance to get a salaried job and break the cycle of poverty.

This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
