We're happy to report our 44 6th graders have been back in school since October. They missed out on six months of school and have been boarding at school and studying hard to make up for the lost time.
Using the library has been key for them, allowing them to access textbooks outside of class time to study for the naitonal exams which are coming up in late March. They are grateful for the sixth grade textbooks that are currently in our library!
Not all classes are so lucky though. With the small amount of funding we obtained last year, we used the funds to buy textbooks for sixth graders. Hurray! This is because they are the highest priority class because they are the class which has national exams which determine whether they can continue on with their schooling at the secondary level (7th to 12th grade).
Textbooks for 1st graders to 4th graders are very limited. At most, 3 to 5 copies of textbooks for classes which may have 60 students. We hope to successfully raise more funds this year so that we can add many more textbooks for 3rd and 4th graders.
We thank you for your support of this very important project of initially building the library, and then continuing on with stocking it with the most important textbooks as well as teacher resource books.
We'd appreciate it if you would share about it too, with your friends and family!
