We are a little over half way through the September Open Challenge – “Build a Classroom, Save the Amazon”. I am confident that Yachana Foundation will make it to our goal of $5,000 and 40 unique donors but we are not there yet.
Thank you for all your recent contributions and support in our first GlobalGiving campaign. As of today, we still need 13 more donors and about $600. If you have not contacted your friends about the challenge, please do so now and ask them to contribute! With only 14 days left, we need to continue to push forward to meet the Open Challenge and meet our bigger goal of $27,000 to build the classroom and Aquaponics demonstration farm.
A lot has been happening at the Yachana Training Center since the beginning of September. Our boarding students have arrived, started daily studies [English, computers and nutrition classes] and are looking forward to the new classroom and farm that your donations will help build. The students have also been constructing new pathways, moving science project vehicles to new homes, sprucing up the Training Center and anticipating this year’s day students that will be starting the 1st of October. Right now we are expecting 160 students but hopefully we will see more right after the start of classes like last year!
Please enjoy the recent photos showing our boarding students happy abd working hard at the Training Center. Please feel free to share this update with your friends and watch for the next progress report when we meet the Open Challenge goal.
