Challenge

The current outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) got reported first from Wuhan, China, on 31 December 2019. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus that had not been previously identified in humans. COVID-19 has been declared as a pandemic by WHO due to the alarming levels of spread and severity. Till date, there is no specific medicine to treat or prevent COVID-19.

Solution

The major concerns affecting these communities are the lack of education and preventive measures with regards to the COVID 19 pandemic, as the measures announced by the government of Ghana is much concentrated in the Greater Accra and the Greater Kumasi areas which appear to be hotspots of the pandemic. This has become a big issue with the people of the north as there are no specific measures adopted by the government to support the grassroots education and fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Long-Term Impact

Increase community awareness on the prevention and spread of the COVID-19 diseases. The communities will have been made aware of the virus and how they can protect themselves. Also, the community members adhere to social distance by isolating from groups garderings and social events and community's members will also be enlighting about the agent of transmission and ways to prevent the spread.
