Summary

"Building Dormitories for 100 orphans in Uganda" is a sub-project of our biggest project - "Building a Primary school, kindergarten and orphanage" in rural Uganda. The project is partially funded, and till now we have built a Primary school and Kindergarten for about 400 children. Our next step is to build dormitories for 100 orphans and to give them home, appropriate care and education.

Challenge

Today, part of these orphans (60) are living and studying in constructions, which can hardly be called "house" and "school" and sleeping on the ground in 3 rooms, 3x3 square meters each of them. Living in conditions of misery and constant morbidity they can not receive the good care and education, which they deserve. When a child doesn't have access to education and basic living conditions it impacts negative of each part of his life - the worldview, the probability of violence and disease.

Solution

By supporting this project, "Smile for Africa foundation" will build dormitories, where 100 orphans will have good sleeping and living conditions. Each one of them will have his own bed, something they even don`t dream for. But together we will give them not only safe and comfortable sleep, but hope and a chance for a better start in their lives. That will be possible by giving them free access to quality education at our "Dulo Nursery and the Primary school", near Zirobwe (50 km from Kampala).

Long-Term Impact

Giving children the opportunity to explore and study is an important first step to their independence in life. Education is fundamental to sustainable development, it is a powerful driver for reducing poverty and improving health. With care and knowledge we will give not only better present, but a better future. For them and for the next generations. But to give these orphans opportunity to have better life we need to build a shelter, where they could stay and access our Kindergarten and School.
