A Dream Room is a space in the hospital( children's pediatric ward )where the foundation build or convert the space into a happy place where kids can go and feel better. The room provide children with simulation that they wouldn't necessarily get by lying in the hospital bed. This distraction although in hospital enable kids to leave the hospital ward and engage with educational activities such as Imaginary Play, Educational Games, Creative Crafts and Electronics Distractions.
Building a Dream Room
Dream Room is aimed at assisting and improving the mental ,emotional and well being of Children Fighting Life Threatening Illnesses. It is a safe place where children are able to go during their long stay in hospital to feel like they are at home. It is a place where their developmental milestones are met.
Currently the foundation has build more than 20 Dream Rooms across the different provinces in South Africa. The aim is to build 50 rooms by 2024 countrywide. The room plays a significant impact in the health and wellness system of our country for children's who are hospitalized and sick. The rooms are a milestone to the foundation ,they will be used by different generations to come. They offer access to health and socio-economic welfare of the kids fighting life threatening illnesses.
