The Dream Room initiative aims to provide hospitalized children with a stimulating and joyful environment that fosters creativity and allows them to experience moments of play and imagination. These specially designed rooms not only offer significant mental and physical stimulation for the children but also contribute to a more positive working atmosphere for hospital staff. By facilitating a variety of activities and fulfilling children's dreams, Dream Rooms also strengthen the Foundation's relationships with medical professionals and hospitals.
A dream room is a room in the hospital that significantly enhance the educational experience for Paediatric patients and their families, serving as a therapeutic environment that fosters learning and creativity.
Dream rooms are designed to be stimulating and comforting by providing a space where children can engage in educational activities. Hospitals can help mitigate the feeling of isolation that often accompanies extended hospital stays.
This supportive atmosphere encourages curiosity and learning, allowing children to explore new concepts and skills. Additionally, family members can participate in these educational activities, fostering bonding and enhancing their understanding of the child's condition and care, making the overall hospital experience more holistic and enriching.
The introduction of Dream Rooms has led to an increase in awareness from healthcare providers, granting the Foundation access to hospitals previously beyond our reach. The interns are in the process of being trained on referrals and assessments in order to increase the number of dreams in the regions to ensure that no child is missed out.
The Foundation currently has 48 dream rooms across the country and we have more to build. With support we can ensure every hospitalised child has the opportuntity to be entertained while in hospital.
