Armenia has strong school-level chess education led by the Chess Academy of Armenia. This pilot extends that experience to vocational education at Baghakats Educational Center in Syunik. Chess will be integrated as a project-based learning tool, with teacher training, tournaments, and applied research to evaluate impact. The program will also include community events and seminars, creating a scalable model for vocational and higher education and promoting chess as a tool for lifelong skills.
While Armenia has a strong and proven experience in school-level chess education, supported by the government and led by the Chess Academy of Armenia, vocational and higher education students - who are preparing for real jobs - rarely benefit from these programs. Many struggle with: Problem-solving in complex situations Strategic thinking Confidence in decision-making Without these skills, their transition into real life and the workforce becomes much harder.
This project will serve as a pilot initiative to integrate chess into vocational education at Baghakats Educational Center in partnership with the Chess Academy of Armenia. It will combine project-based learning, teacher training, and applied research to study the effectiveness of chess as an educational tool. Community events and tournaments will support wider engagement and visibility.
