Project Report | Oct 9, 2018
Force, Union and Love

By Rina Anneris Lazo | Director of Benefactor Services

Don Juan Orellana, 81 years old, and his wife Doña Concepción de Orellana, 75 years old, are from San Andrés Itzapa, Chimaltenango. They work as farmers on a farm in San Bartolomé Becerra, Antigua Guatemala.

For a year, they have used the Santa Madre Homeless Shelter, because they do not have a stable place to live. Unfortunately, the eldest son evicted them from the house, claiming that they were a burden to him and that they were a hindrance to his "ideal of life", so he made the decision to throw them out and abandon them to their fate.

From that event, the couple was asking for an inn in different places and sleeping on many occasions in the streets; due to the age they have, they did not get any work opportunity with which they could cover their basic needs, or at least they had to pay some income; It is worth mentioning that they do not have other relatives with whom they could support or receive any kind of help.

Santa Madre Homeless Shelter, has welcomed you and given help since 2017, especially since they told the events that took them to this point. Currently, it is only known that the son sold the property and his whereabouts are unknown.
