Project Report | Dec 27, 2011
Ever been so close to something, you just needed a final hand up to reach it?

By Pam Rogers | Project Leader

Everyone does their best.
Everyone does their best.

Since November 23, DARE Network has worked hard to win the GlobalGiving Tribute Card challenge for our project Rebuild Flooded Burma Refugee Camp Recovery Centres.  http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/rebuild-flooded-burma-refugee-camp-recovery-centre/?show=gift  We have been near or at the top of this challenge for several weeks now, thanks to donations from many people like you, who understand how much a grassroots organization like ours can do.

The challenge ends very soon on December 31st at Midnight. The premise of the challenge is to get as many "unique" donations as possible to receive $1500. in Bonus funding from GlobalGiving.

You may have already donated to it and for this we thank you.  If you wish to make a further small donation, to help us win the bonus, please be sure to use a different payment method and email address to be "unique".  Even another $10. donation to this campaign will help, as long as it is "unique".

If you haven't donated yet, please help us. Again, any size donation will get the job done.  We have some strong competition and in some cases from organizations that are not so grassroots and that have big fundraising machines behind them.  We are in a David and Goliath situation here.

Anyone, who wants to help please use this link only.  It will take you directly to the Tribute Card Campaign for our project Rebuild Flooded Burma Refugee Recovery Centres.  Make a donation in honour or memory of someone you love, respect, or want to remember to be sure it counts for the campaign and the bonus funds.

Some of what we accomplished in 2011

In 2011, DARE Network refugee camp based teams' Addiction Prevention Education reached over 6000 youth and children through 45 schools and over 79 Ultimate tournaments.  DARE treated over 300 people suffering from addiction in our Recovery Centres and provided education and counselling to over 11,000 families.  DARE continues through our programs to reduce poverty, violence and addiction in 5 refugee camps housing almost 150,000 people on a budget of just over $120,000. per year.  We have no International overheads and all your donations go directly to the beneficiaries.

We need to recover from the flooding in the camps and we need to win the Tribute Card Challenge.  We need you to be part of our team to reach these goals.  Please donate today.

Please use this link and not the Burmese Youth Prevent Addiction and Violence.  Thanks.
