This project will accelerate the closure of the "Bjelave" orphanage and will enable children without parental care to move from the orphanage in House and finally live in conditions that every child deserves - a family environment. The capacity of the House is a maximum of twelve children. Children who have the experience of staying in orphanages with a capacity of 100-120 children, after replacement, quickly see and feel the advantages of this form of care.
Hope and Homes for Children organization have reached more than 100 orphanage closure. Orphanages have long been recognized as an unacceptable form of care for children. For children who cannot be with their own families, there is always a better option than an orphanage. The last thing that an orphanage can provide is the first thing a child needs, someone to love them. Decades of evidence prove orphanages don't protect children. They harm them.
Accommodation in this House is a solution for children for whom family care is not possible (reintegration into a biological family, adoption, foster care). House has a sufficient number of professional staff which allows individual access and dedication for each child, which is not the case in the orphanages. That positively reflects on their psychophysical development, as demonstrated in the House in B&H in Zenica, the first Small Family Home in B&H. Total amount needed for purchase: $208.000.
This project will enable many generations of children without parental care to live in healthier and better conditions. Children will be happier, more ready to live independently when they grow up, and will not be stigmatized. They will grow up in one house as brothers and sisters. This House will allow them to gain a sense of belonging. The smallest thing we can do will be the biggest thing for them. Let's take them out of the orphanage. Let's buy them a House. Let's give them a family.
