Kidzcan continues to assist children in Zimbabwe in the fight against childhood cancers. Despite the current economic situation in the country and the shortages of drugs and foreign currency, Kidzcan continues to find means of assisting the children nationwide. Our numbers of new registration are growing by the day. Almost 400 since the beginning of the year. Children still have to travel to the capital city for treatment. We still do not have an Ambulance to transport children with cancer. So to alleviate the problem of children having to travel up to 800km to seek medical attention, Kidzcan with its partner’s United Refineries refurbished the first Oncology Ward outside the capital city to cater for up to 10 cancer patients. This ward would be used for children receiving Chemotherapy or Radiation treatment, avoiding them having to travel an extra 500km to the main Cancer centre.
This ward was handed over on the 6th of November 2018 to Mpilo Hospital. This was a dream come true on decentralizing cancer treatment in Zimbabwe. It’s a brand new ward offering all the comforts of loving, peaceful home. Even heaters were installed for the winter period.
Kidzcan will continue to seek assistance from Donors around the world to make in difference in the treatment of cancer in Zimbabwe. We will always be indebted to the generosity of our Donors. Your donation brings a smile to the little ones in Zimbabwe. Your donation makes a difference!
Please continue to give and save lives. The Ambulance we seek will always be on our Wish List!
Please see the attached videos and pictures of the Handover Ceremony of the New Oncology Ward.
From Zimbabwe with Love we say Thank you, Tatenda, Siyabonga!
