CAMPS manufacturing shelter coats for the homeless

[EN] The new workshop has been launched

As we announced a few months ago, we have been preparing a new space where we can develop our activities. This, of course, includes our Training Center for Employment, the methodology through which we accompany people in situations of extreme vulnerability on their way to social and labor reintegration through spaces of containment, training and development of a life project.

But it also includes a sewing workshop in which we can continue working on the CAMPS, the jackets that can be transformed into sleeping bags so that homeless people who for various reasons cannot participate in our processes or get some kind of accommodation can at least get through the coldest moments in a better way.

We believe that the most important thing is to find structural solutions to the problem of homelessness, but we are also aware that there are no magic solutions and that many people must face extremely cold nights on the streets (this year there were at least 17 deaths due to this cause). For this reason, in addition to our advocacy work on public policies and accompanying processes of building autonomy for people living on the streets, we continue to dedicate our efforts to CAMPS as an emergency palliative solution.

[ES] - Inauguramos el nuevo taller

Como les contamos hace unos meses, estuvimos preparando un nuevo espacio donde desarrollar nuestras actividades. Esto, por supuesto, incluye a nuestro Centro de Formación para el Empleo, la metodología mediante la cual acompañamos a personas en situación de vulnerabilidad extrema en su camino hacia la revinculación social y laboral mediante espacios de contención, formación y elaboración de un proyecto de vida.

Pero también incluye un taller de costura en el que podemos seguir trabajando sobre las CAMPS, las camperas que se transforman en bolsas de dormir para que personas en situación de calle que por diversos motivos no pueden participar de nuestros procesos o conseguir algún tipo de alojamiento puedan al menos atravesar los momentos más fríos de una mejor manera.

Creemos que lo más importante es encontrar soluciones estructurales al problema del sinhogarismo, pero también somos conscientes de que no existen soluciones mágicas y que muchas personas deben enfrentar noches de frío extremo en las calles (en este año se registraron al menos 17 fallecimientos por esta causa). Por eso, en simultáneo a un trabajo de incidencia sobre políticas públicas y a acompañar procesos de construcción de autonomía de personas en situación de calle, seguimos dedicando esfuerzos a las CAMPS como solución paliativa de emergencia.
