This project will support 100 homeless people in the City of Buenos Aires. We will provide individual and group psychotherapy, occupational therapy, and coaching services. Our main goal is to achieve social inclusion focusing on decent work and we know that without mental health support it couldn't be possible.
As the public health system in Buenos Aires has collapsed due to the Pandemic, more than 7,251 homeless people are excluded from accessing free public mental health services. The vast majority of them want to leave the streets through a job. But for them, getting a decent job involves more than drafting a resume. The challenges they face become unbeatable without the possibility of access to quality and free mental health services.
Our project will provide both individual and group Psychotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Addicts Support groups and group Coaching for re-building social and personal skills, to 100 homeless people. In our experience and professional assessment, this is the necessary approach for them to achieve the highest possible degree of autonomy and the development of social and work skills that will allow job opportunities to be more than hope, to get a decent job and to be able to maintain it over time.
We believe that the impact will not be limited to the people directly involved, but that their families, friends and people in the same circumstances, that will see that the path to a better quality of life is possible. This approach with focus on mental health goes along the de-stigmatization process of homeless people and their mental health, favoring social integration, and fostering greater involvement in the problem, both at the individual and at a corporate level.
