2025 in Review: Giving Thanks for a Year of Impact

By M. Kennedy Leavens | Executive Director

Watch our 2025 Thank You Video!

What better way to close the year than by sharing meaningful progress and clear goals for what comes next? Through our 2025 workshops, we built learning, unity, and leadership that strengthen cooperatives, alongside shared creativity and new ideas, always holding onto the belief that  work must be sustainable and able to evolve. From there, new paths for income began, including the development of high-quality, naturally dyed yarn for export alongside the Kusi Qollyr cooperative.

WAnd we cannot talk about sustainability without talking about climate change! In the Andes, it is already shaping everyday life, and it is shaping how we work too: from small innovations like turning leftover textile fringe into sustainable Llamita toys, to listening closely to our partner artisans, understanding their challenges and preparing together to be more resilient in how we use materials and other natural resources in our production.

Equally important, resilience needs space to thrive. We were proud to  improve artisan centers in Puskariy Tika and Kelkanca, to plan a safer home for Songuillay’s weavers, and to celebrate as the Awaq Phuna cooperative opened their weaving center and welcomed visitors for the first time, building confidence (and income!) along the way. With new tools strengthening production and international recognition honoring this collective work, we close this 2025 with deep gratitude to you, our donors, who make it all possible.
