This project will enable the following initiatives to take place; Example: - 10 graduating victims will be able to reach out to 400 local community members in a period of 3 months - 150 girls and some boys rescued from modern slavery receives formal + non formal education services including entrepreneurship skills development - Equipping the residence with basic facilities to accommodate 150 residents. - Hosting break fast meeting and challenges the role of gov't in addressing human trafficking
Lack of research on the issue has been hampering the implementation of effective policies and programs for combating human trafficking. Lack of strong regional efforts to break off the chain of traffickers. There are gaps in terms of cooperation between countries. Victims rescued in one country and traffickers arrested in the destination country may not be informed in the origin country. - Limited efforts by the government to carry out post follow up mechanism for the victims
Victims are trained through informal education in Entrepreneurship and skills development. Dialogues and media shows that highlights the magnitude, causes and effects of human trafficking will be organised in semi-urban areas. Training of counselors in handling human trafficked victims will be a comparative advantage. A pool of assisted victims will be reaching the communities purposely to target parents to take responsibilities of their children so that they don't get into the same problems.
1400 local community members will be sensitized on the dangers human trafficking and measures of ending it in their locality. Over 550 victims will have graduated and engaged in business entrepreneurship and skills development. The residence will expand and equipped with basic facilities that are more friendly to the victims More skilled counselors will be enrolled at the residence.
