Help 200 Girls in Vietnam Join Technovation

We are so proud of all the young ladies who participated in Technovation this year. We had 101 participants from across 11 orphanages participate in 18 weeks of the project. This included the 12-week curriculum provided by Technovation plus 6 additional weeks from Kidspire that we used to help teach skills that we knew the participants would need to successfully complete the project.

Two of our participating teams advanced to the semi-final round - impressing the global panel of judges with the relevance of their app addressing depression among youth. This is especially prevalent for the Kidspire student population who are growing up in orphanages. The team ideated, created, listened to feedback, refined, completed, and pitched their app. Click the link below to see their pitch video where they provide background context and share their idea and solution.

We love the Technovation project for the many ways it helps our participating students to collaborate, communicate, ideate - all while producing meaningful projects.

• Semi-finalists "pitch" their app

You've heard us say it before. We LOVE the Technovation Challenge. It brings groups of girls together, in an educational environment, where they can collaborate together to complete a project. The project includes analysis, ideation, critical thinking, empathy, teamwork, digital and internet literacy, coding, time management, and presentation skills.

Nhung, shown in the attached photo, is a real demonstration of why we love this project. Here she is standing in front of a group of adults (orphanage staff, government representatives, community stakeholders) presenting her project and articulating how this 12-week project helped her to increase her confidence - so much of an increase that she was able to stand up in front of a room of adjults and tell them just that.

Our students carry a burden that no child should have to carry. They are living separated from their family, in an institutional setting, through no fault of their own. It regularly leads to children who are disengaged in the classroom and lack self-confidence in their own ability to take steps towards the future.

Slowly, but surely, we are seeing improvements in our student's self-confidence as they participate in Technovation. We know that this program alone cannot help every child improve their confidence - but student's like Nhung provide us an example that we are on the right track.
