Casa de los Angeles in Central Mexico serves children of single working moms who cannot afford daycare. The center is free and the moms give one hour of service for each day their children are with us. The 100 children in our daycare center love to slide and swing and bounce. We can put all of their energy to good use with a new playground built near our center.
A piece of land has been donated right behind our center and we would like to build a playground and park for the children we serve. Right now they are walking up to 8 blocks to get to a neighborhood park. That is quite a distance for the little feet of our three and four year olds to travel.
To have a playground and park right in our backyard will allow our children to play outside every day rather than just on "park days" once or twice a week. Also, we will be able to use the park for all of our children, not just the oldest in our center.
Our 100 children will have the opportunity to use the playground for exercise and to gain in their gross motor coordination every day of the week. They will no longer have to walk a great distance. The playground will also be available to all the children of our neighborhood
