Despite extreme rainfall and cyclone damage, the Cassowary Corridor project has made strong progress this year. We completed debris removal and trail repairs at Benella Reserve and Emerald Waters, and planted 3,380 of the planned 5,000 rainforest trees to restore habitat and stabilise waterways.
These plantings are already strengthening cassowary movement routes, reducing erosion into reef-connected creeks, and increasing resilience to future floods and cyclones. This vital restoration work is helping reconnect fragmented rainforest while protecting both wildlife and downstream ecosystems for generations to come.
