Cats Of Gili (est.2013) is an animal welfare project in GiliTrawangan, Indonesia. We love our island cats, and we have worked hard to help our huge cat population become healthier and happier. We look after cats and kittens needing help, we organize free spay/neuter clinics to help keep the cat population under control and in times of crisis we step in to make sure our island cats stay well fed and looked after. We never turn away a cat in need and we think everyone deserves a chance to survive.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of cats in Gili islands, Indonesia. The lives of our island cats have improved dramatically since Cats Of Gili started back in 2013, but the kitties still breed rapidly and occasionally get sick or injured and need help. In times of crisis, such as Lombok earthquakes in 2018 and isolated Covid-years, extra help has been needed to make sure our island cats stay well fed and looked after.
Cats Of Gili provides help and care for cats in need. We organize free cat clinics couple of times a year, offering free vet care for cats: spay/neuter, other minor surgeries and general veterinary care. We take in cats and kittens needing help, and we never turn away a cat in need. We support and educate local cat loving families, providing help, advice and free cat food when needed, to gain long term trust, and to improve the well being and care of pet cats.
We can house up to 5 sick/injured cats in our hospital, plus 10-15 cats or kittens needing just food and care. Plus we have space for 2-3 mommy cats with kittens, ensuring they get the care they need. Continuing to run free cat clinics improves the overall health of the cats and helps to keep the cat population under control. The more we work with the local community, the better they understand the benefits of what we do. Our goal is a healthier, happier cat population on Gili islands.
