Centro Bonilla Financial Aid Program

Our Financial Aid Program continues to grow and reach more individuals in our community. Since our last update, Centro Bonilla has begun working with new clients who are receiving support through the program. This continued growth is an important reflection of the need for accessible mental health and wellness services, particularly for individuals and families who may experience financial barriers to obtaining care.

The Financial Aid Program was created to help make mental health and holistic wellness services more accessible to individuals who otherwise may not be able to afford them. Through the program, Centro Bonilla has been able to provide financial assistance and reduced-cost access to services, including individual therapy and wellness-based support. Our approach recognizes that emotional and mental well-being are connected to the overall well-being of the individual and the community.

Over time, the program has continued to develop alongside Centro Bonilla's other community initiatives. Our work has included connecting individuals with therapeutic support, wellness activities, expressive arts, sound healing, Reiki, and other holistic approaches. These services allow us to meet people where they are and provide different pathways for individuals to receive support. Our collaboration with licensed professionals in Bonao has also helped strengthen community trust and create greater opportunities for people to access mental health support in a familiar and culturally responsive environment.

One of the most meaningful developments has been the continued growth in the number of people seeking assistance. Beginning to work with new clients through the Financial Aid Program demonstrates that the need for this type of support remains present in our community. For many individuals, financial circumstances can become a significant barrier to receiving services. By providing assistance, Centro Bonilla is able to help reduce one of those barriers and create an opportunity for individuals to receive support when they need it.

The program is also part of our larger commitment to addressing the barriers that affect access to mental health and wellness resources in underserved communities. Through community conversations, participant feedback, workshops, therapists, volunteers, and local leaders, we have continued to learn about the needs of the people we serve. These experiences have reinforced the importance of making services more accessible while continuing to build trust and reduce the stigma that can sometimes prevent individuals from seeking mental health support.

As the Financial Aid Program grows, so does our responsibility to continue developing sustainable ways to support the individuals who come to us for assistance. Donations from our supporters play an important role in allowing us to continue providing this assistance and expanding our reach. Every contribution helps create greater access to care for someone who may otherwise have limited options.

Looking ahead, we hope to continue growing the Financial Aid Program so that we can support more individuals and families. We also want to strengthen the program alongside our broader vision for Centro Bonilla, including community education, expressive arts and music programming, youth and family initiatives, and eventually the development of a permanent Community Healing Center in Jayaco, Bonao. Our long-term goal is to create a sustainable community-based system of support where people can access mental health resources, wellness opportunities, education, and other forms of assistance without financial hardship becoming the deciding factor.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to this work. The continued growth of the Financial Aid Program would not be possible without the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our collaborators and volunteers, and the trust of the individuals and families we serve. As we welcome new clients and continue expanding the program, we remain committed to ensuring that access to healing and support is not limited by a person's ability to pay.

Centro Bonilla Financial Aid Program

Centro Bonilla

Centro Bonilla’s Financial Aid Program was created to help reduce economic barriers that prevent individuals and families from accessing mental health and wellness support. Many members of the communities we serve experience financial hardship, making it difficult to prioritize counseling, holistic wellness services, educational support, and emotional care.

Through this program, Centro Bonilla has been able to provide financial assistance and reduced-cost access to therapeutic and community-based services for children, youth, adults, and families in need. Our goal is to ensure that healing and emotional support remain accessible regardless of economic circumstances.

Program Impact

Over the past year, the Financial Aid Program has supported individuals and families who otherwise would not have been able to participate in counseling sessions, wellness activities, educational workshops, and community programs. This support has helped create safer and more consistent access to emotional care, stress reduction, and personal growth opportunities.

Many families shared that receiving financial assistance allowed them to seek support without the added burden of choosing between mental health care and basic daily expenses. For several participants, this was their first opportunity to engage in therapy or holistic wellness services in a supportive and culturally affirming environment.

Community Story

One participant expressed that receiving financial assistance through Centro Bonilla gave her the opportunity to continue attending counseling sessions during a period of emotional overwhelm and financial instability. She shared that the support helped her feel seen, supported, and less alone during a difficult chapter in her life. Through continued care, she was able to strengthen her emotional wellbeing and reconnect with hope and stability for herself and her family.

Stories like this continue to remind us that financial accessibility is deeply connected to emotional healing and community wellbeing.

Progress Toward Our Goals

The Financial Aid Program continues to grow as community needs increase. Through donations, partnerships, and community support, Centro Bonilla has been able to expand access to services while continuing to prioritize dignity, compassion, and culturally grounded care.

We are actively working toward increasing the number of individuals and families who can receive assistance, while also building sustainable systems of support through the future development of our permanent community healing center in Jayaco, Bonao.

Next Steps

Centro Bonilla plans to continue strengthening the Financial Aid Program through:

Expanding fundraising efforts for mental health accessibility
Increasing reduced-cost counseling opportunities
Supporting youth and family participation in wellness programs
Building partnerships with donors and community organizations
Creating a permanent healing space where accessible services can continue to grow

Continued Support Through the Financial Aid Progra

Centro Bonilla is deeply grateful to share an update on our financial aid program and the meaningful impact made possible through recent donations. We have truly felt supported by the contribution we received, which has allowed us to continue offering essential services to individuals in our community who require financial assistance in order to participate.

Through the financial aid program, Centro Bonilla has continued to provide holistic and integrative services, including individual therapy with a licensed therapist, sound healing, expressive arts, reiki, and asanas (yin yoga with sound healing). These offerings remain rooted in care, accessibility, and healing, and they are essential resources for many individuals and families within our communities.

We are honored to partner with a licensed therapists based in Bonao, Dominican Republic, who remains deeply engaged with Centro Bonilla and the community we serve. Through the financial aid program, they offers individual therapy sessions while also actively participating in community gatherings and activities. Their consistent presence and involvement have helped build trust and safety, allowing community members to feel more open and supported in engaging with therapy.

As a result of ongoing conversations and relationship-building with women in Jayaco, Bonao, we have noticed a gradual decrease in the stigma surrounding therapy. We continue to encourage both women and men in our community to take advantage of these services, especially when they can support personal healing and strengthen family well-being.

We are incredibly thankful for the donations that make this work possible. The support we receive through the financial aid program continues to be a blessing to our community, and we are hopeful that this collective care will continue so that those most in need can access healing services with dignity and support.
