Major parts of the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh are deprived of electricity. Sundarbans coastal communities have to bow down to the gloominess of night due to lack of electricity. Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is an environmental development organization which has been trying to reduce the sufferings of the coastal people by supporting solar lamps since 2014 because promoting renewable energy is one of the focal sectors of the organization. The organization is trying to get fund from the donors for this purpose; because, without their assistance it is not possible to support the beneficiaries. So far we have raised 505$ from ten donors and expect to draw the donors kind attention and get the total amount 12987$ for this project very soon. BEDS is also negotiating with other potential donors like Korea Green Foundation (KGF) to get support so that coastal students may get the alternative electricity to continue their study. Hopefully KGF will assist us for the benefits of few students.
This news has been shared with the local community that nine respectable donors have already supported us. It is the belief of the villagers that one day they will get solar lamps by the support of kind hearted people, although they are still fighting for purchasing kerosene for their lighting purpose.
This is our heartiest request to the donors, please come forward and reduce the sufferings of those poor coastal people through donating for solar lights.
