Summary

In Mexico, 53% of families face poverty, marginalization and vulnerability, causing our children lack access to education and development problems; limiting their opportunities and exposing them to the risk of participating in criminal situations. By ensuring the education of 93 children, we will attend problems of learning, school lag, or deficient development of cognitive and psychomotor skills, providing the tools to break the cycle of poverty and transform their lives and communities.

Challenge

The children at the Albergue come from dysfunctional families facing violence, vulnerability and extreme poverty; they lack access to basic services and educational opportunities, leading to cognitive and learning problems and a strong educational backlog. These conditions prevent them from realizing their full potential, and in the long term limit their opportunities to access decent jobs, improve their quality of life and break the cycle of poverty in which they find themselves.

Solution

We ensure that children attend regular school and accredit the school year. School reinforcement will allow them to acquire study habits, do their homework and learn. They will be able to improve their reading and writing skills and logical-mathematical knowledge. With special education therapy, they will develop fluency, articulation and reading comprehension; decreasing their language and learning problems, increasing their self-esteem and social inclusion.

Long-Term Impact

We will ensure the fulfillment of Children's right to formal education by addressing their cognitive weaknesses and educational backwardness. Through the implementation of an integral education model, children's self-esteem will be strengthened, generating in them tools for self-management, skills and knowledge to move forward in life, directly impacting better conditions for them and future generations, thus breaking the cycle of poverty and violence in which they find themselves.
