By M. Sabrin Ahmed Roty | Project Leader

Tailoring gives us both money and respect
Tailoring gives us both money and respect

Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) has been working to improve the living standard of the women of the coastal women (Mathurapur village Munshijang union of Shyamnagar sub district of Satkhira district) by providing several training and also encouraging them.

Impact:

Local women got training on tailoring. Now a small cottage industry has been developed. The women are getting order from local markets. They are able to contribute in their family income. Now they hold a respectful position in their family as well as among the villagers.

Feedbacks from the beneficiaries:

Some of beneficiary expresses their felling. ‘‘We are the coastal women. We live in the saline area. We depend on Sudarbans resources for our livelihood. The women of this region leads a miserable life. BEDS has come to our life with the light of empowerment. They trained us on tailoring. Now we are getting lots of orders from local market and getting much profit. Seeing our achievement, more women have in involved to our work.”

Capacity building training and sewing equipments are necessary for the women to improve their life standard. So, BEDS has taken an initiative to empower 50 women of Mathurapur village by developing their skill on sewing and also providing them equipments related to sewing through raising fund from GlobalGiving platform.

So, it’s a heartiest appeal to all the donors for being kind to help those vulnerable women to give them a chance to come out from the cycle of poverty and lead a respectful life.

We are requesting all our donors to start monthly recurring donation. Please click the following link; https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/changing-life-by-empowering-women/?show=recurring
