Mangrove products make costal women self-dependent

By M. Sabrin Ahmed Roty | Project Leader

In BANOJIBI, the women are producing several mangrove-based products like mangrove pickle, mangrove honey, mangrove molasses, handicraft items and different local products. They are processing and packaging their developed products. Several visitors visit BANOJIBI and explore their initiatives. The targeted women also selling the products among the visitors and earning money. The women are getting economic benefit from the developed products and become self-dependent.

One of the women expressed her feelings, “I live in this village. There are 5 members in my family including my husband and three children. I used to work in the field as a day labor and use the money to run my family expenses. I used to work from dawn to dusk but got a little amount of money. After the establishment of BANOJIBI, I took training from here and started preparing and packaging mangrove pickle. Now I get higher value of my input. BANOJIBI has made me a working woman and I get respect from our locality. I am very much thankful to get opportunity to vulnerable deprived coastal women like me.

BEDS has established BANOJIBI and there are lots of deprived women in this region. BEDS is unable to support more women due to the lack of funding support. So, it’s a heartiest appeal to all the donors for being kind to help those vulnerable women to give them a chance to come out from the cycle of poverty and lead a respectful life.

We are requesting all our donors to start monthly recurring donation. Please click the following link; https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/changing-life-by-empowering-women/?show=recurring
