The Gabriela Dias Foundation works with hundreds of children and youth to provide them with high quality education and access to the arts. We focus especially in those who live in disadvantaged areas, and who are overlooked due to the lack of educational opportunities and economic challenges. Through our social initiatives such as Reading Awareness, Art, Music and Poetry Appreciation we tell their stories to inform, engage and inspire the public to take action.
There are many programs such as Music and Art that are constantly in danger of being cut from shrinking school budgets even though they are proven to improve academics. This takes away from children and teens and the opportunity to build many skills such as problem solving, decision making, creativity, building self-confidence and self-discipline. Educational opportunity for those in disadvantaged areas are also lacking due to financial challenges within their own homes.
The Gabriela Dias Foundation was created to promote and advocate the rights of children and adolescents in many disadvantaged areas. We invest in raising the levels of education by focusing on educational opportunity, innovation and quality. We also understand the essential value of arts and culture and use the power of our voice to ensure that our GDF children and youth have equal access to high-quality arts, and equity that is available to higher socioeconomic communities.
Through voicing our children and youth stories and hardships GDF wants to ensure that all children and youth receive a relevant, high-quality education, have access to the arts, are empowered and reach their full potential. Through our monthly and year round social initiatives we not only tell their stories to inform, engage and inspire the public to take action; but we give them once in a lifetime experiences and opportunities to change their lives and future.
