Executive Summary
“Check Your Help This Month” is a humanitarian and community development initiative launched by Save life make difference to support vulnerable and low-income families across Burundi. The project aims to provide essential food assistance to at least 5,000 poor families during the first phase of implementation.
Food insecurity and poverty continue to affect thousands of households in Burundi due to inflation, unemployment, and rising living costs. Many families struggle daily to access sufficient and nutritious meals, exposing children and vulnerable persons to malnutrition and health complications.
This project seeks to reduce hunger, improve health conditions, and strengthen community resilience through emergency food distribution and small-income generating activity training.
The project has a fundraising goal of $30,000, with $1,210 raised so far through the support of 36 donors.
Background and Context
Burundi remains one of the countries heavily affected by poverty and food insecurity. Rising inflation and economic challenges have significantly reduced the purchasing power of many households, especially vulnerable rural and urban communities.
Many families experience:
Lack of daily meals
Limited income opportunities
Poor living conditions
Increased vulnerability to diseases related to malnutrition
Inability to provide adequate care for children
Economic instability has further worsened food insecurity, making humanitarian support essential for thousands of families.
