Jerry Giraffe Sunday School Program Report Nov2019

By Mildred Jutzen | Field Worker

The past few months has been a huge struggle for us as communities to express our concerns and finding ways to voice ourselves to bring an end to Gender base violence. Fear for the lives of our children in school, unsafe play areas, in their homes and the list goes one.

In the past 2-3 months we paid a visit to three of our six Archdeaconries where we could address the importance of "Fikelela Aids Project awareness programs". We designed a very detailed powerpoint presentation to the leadership that attended these meetings. This exposure to the broader spectrum would encourage them to send their Sunday School teachers and confrimation teachers to attend our training sessions.

Before 2019 come to a closure we have one more opportunity at our 9-13th December Holiday club to introduce our awareness program to our young children age 4yrs-12yrs. The Jerry Giraffe program addresses all issues relating to child abuse and what and how our children should protect themselves from the dangers they face every day in their homes and communities.

We are looking forward to a very positive 2020, as the Fikelela Team we strategically planned our events and wokshops for the new year, these dates will be sent to all parishes to include in their 2020 year planner. We start on the 22nd February, 2020 with our Jerry Giraffe Training.

Our aim for 2020 is also to target the surounding schools in our community as well.

We would like to thank you for your ongoing support !

With much love and appreciation

The Fikelela Team
