By Mildred Jutzen | Jerry Giraffe programme leader
Fikelela Aids Project is rolling out the Sunday School programme - Jerry Giraffe to new churches and Sunday School teachers.
teachers from five churches attended a training hosted by Think Twice where they learned to run this ten session programme in their own communities. The programme helps them to talk about issues of body, emotions, safety, hiv stigma and other important concepts. The training is done in a fun way with Jerry Giraffe as the teacher!
Some comments from the teachers are "This is a great programme which teaches the little ones to respect their own bodies, to be accepting of all people living with HIV. They also learn about self respect and sharing of feeligns and emotions."
"jerry the talking Giraffe shares stories in a safe non threatening way which the children love!"
""I cant wait to incorporate this fun materials into my Sunday School teaching"
" I like that each of the lessons is linked with a Bible story so I can incorporate it in my class teaching"
These teachers will go on to create a safe space for their kids to share what is going on in their lives....
