I am 50 years old and I am a mother of 8 children. I live in Gemena near the Mombonga/Libenge Moke river in Congo. I am part of the American Foundation for Children with AIDS beneficiaries, as my husband abandoned me with all 8 children. Out of love and concern for the vulnerable, AFCA called me and trained me for livestock as well as agriculture.
In 2022, I was given three female goats and I started breeding. When these animals multiplied, it helped me a lot and constituted the only way to live with the children. Despite the diseases that kill our animals, I managed to achieve something through these animals such as:
- I built a straw house.
- All my children have had the chance to study because at the start of each school year, I sell goats so that I can buy notebooks, clothes and other school supplies and then I advance the school fees.
- I had my eldest son study until he obtained his state diploma.
- As I am alone, when the children get sick, I take them to the hospital for appropriate care thanks to the goats.
I am very grateful because AFCA has taken an act of good faith towards me and my children. Otherwise I don't know how my family would have lived given that their father had abandoned us. I thank you very much and ask that you continue to do the same for other vulnerable families. Today, I am at the end of my contract with AFCA because God helped me and I returned all the goats! Thank you and God bless you!
